Do whitening toothpastes damage your teeth?

I mean the normal ones like Colgate and Macleans.
Answer:
Those brands should not cause damage if used in accordance to the instructions.

There are several whitening toothpastes on the market. Although they do not affect the natural colour of your teeth, they may be effective at removing staining and therefore may improve the overall appearance of your teeth. Whitening toothpaste may also help the effect last, once your teeth have been professionally whitened. We recommend that you look for our accreditation symbol on the packaging of oral care products. This is a guarantee that the claims made about the product have been scientifically and clinically checked by an independent panel of experts.
No, but the specialist kits can remove layers of enamel. This does whiten the teeth, but it also damages them and makes them weaker
I think some can strip the enamel off them making them more susceptible to decay
Ive used them for years every day and theres nothing wrong with my teeth.
No they are not damaging they have less bleaching agents or none at all.
Colgate is the ONLY one i would touch, the rest of them are too abrasive and will damage your teeth and may make them sensitive, they usually do more damage than good hope this helps!
Apparently they have found extremely high amounts of hydrogen peroxide in them. And considering thats the stuff you use to dye your hair it cant be very good for your teeth. But in saying that I dont know if that included the ones you mentioned, so probably not much help there...sorry.
Some of them contain abrasives, which wear off the top layer of your teeth. Strawberries are a better option. From http://www.aches.in/toothwhitening.html...
Why not try Maximum Teeth Whitening for a big difference?! It's the exact same professional strength teeth whitening system dentists prescribe for their patients who want the convenience and affordability of at home teeth whitening. Try it out at http://www.maximumteethwhitening.com/... and see the benefits it could give to your white smile.
Probably so, they are said to wear the enamel off your teeth. But It should say on the packet if its non abrasive or not.. but then again i still dont know if id trust their word.
I use crest toothpaste only with whitening, and I have no problems whatsoever.
There's nothing wrong with them as there isn't enough bleach in them to do damage %26 they don't make your teeth whiter they just prevent getting more stains. It's just advertising they make your teeth whiter it's a retail thing.
