Do I need nitrous oxide?

I am 15 and I'm having 2 cavities filled today. I am afraid to death of the dentist and have been crying all morning. (I know I am over reacting). The nitrous oxide is $50, and I don't know if that will even help. Am I too old for that? Will it even work on me?
Answer:
No one is too old for nitrous oxide. I am a dental assistant and have seen patients with sincere fears of the dental chair. If the nitrous is going to make it a more pleasant experience for you...then do it. It's always better the patient be more comfortable..always! As for the $50, that's a normal fee. People tend to forget the "add ons" that come along with using/administering the nitrous. Take a deep breath...you will do fine. :)PS This is a conscious sedation...meaning you will be fully awake and aware of your surroundings. You will be able to hear your dentist, hear sounds and acknowledge/understand what's going on around you. The nitrous oxide will help you to relax.
NO!!!!!!!!!!...
Do you NEED it? Not necessarily. Do you WANT it? Absolutely! Yes, it will work, and yes, you will appreciate having it, if you have a fear of pain.
Yes it will work, it will sedate you alot.
it will work or you but you shouldent need it getting them filled is not going to be that bad and you shouldent worry about it they are going to numb you up and you wont feel anything but a little pressure on the tooth you will be fine
Well don't mean to scare you, but can you take a needle going into your gums. If not yes take the nitrous oxide.
It will work on you...just man up and take a little shot in the mouth. It will be ok.
$50 for nitrous - that dentist is ripping you off. It should be more like $5. It will work on you - you are not too old and it will relax you.
No, the dentist will give you a shot of novocaine directly in gums to numb your gums fully. However, nitrous oxide is administered before the shot and what it really does is relaxes you. If you are freaking out as much as you say, you should definitely use it even if you don't strictly need it. And yes, it will work for you, it has nothing to do with age. If you have any concerns, talk to the dentist or hygienist before the procedure.
take whip-its yourselfand save $40
