When I was a kid there were only wire-like braces available. But now I hear there are "invisible braces". Are invisible braces common nowadays or just something for the uppermiddle class?

Most people go with the metal braces. Although when adults get braces they tend to lean more to the "clear" brackets because they are not metal. Problem with those is they stain really easily so if you like things like marinara sauce, coffee, dark sodas and other staining foods, they are not for you. There is also something called Invisalign. Those are series of retainers that slowly move your teeth. If you have a comlicated case these will not work for you, but if its simple you might be up for it. Just keep in mind they cost much more and are much more expensive!!

I've noticed that usually adults tend to wear invisible braces. Usually to hide the fact that they have them, but, they usually end up looking really gross, as if they have a lot of plaque on their teeth.
i really depends on what you getting done invisible braces are put behind your teeth and arn't suitable for everyone ad say most people still go with the metal brackets though or ceramic bracketsxxxxxxxx
Well first off - it has nothing to do with 'upper-middle class' or any income group. It all has to do with preferance and what the person believes will look better on them. I had braces that had somewhat both on them. i believe the 'invisible' or clear is becoming more and popular because kids today are somewhat self concious about what they'll look like with braces. Then again, nowadays they also offer color bands and bracet wraps.
I have invisible braces. They are common but are also more expensive. The invisible ones i have are plastic and porcelain but there are also just regular porcelain ones.
they r more expensive cuz i had a choice if i wanted them or wire ones and i got the color wired ones
Well im 16 and have had my wire braces for 2 years, and all my friends have wired braces, but i think the invisible braces ive seen look bad, like they have somthing on they're teeth.
at least with wired braces everyone knows its braces and not some crap you have on you teeth thats suposed to be invisible.
honestly most people don't notice that much and most people go with the wire braces. don't go with the clear ones - they stain easily and they look awful. The metal ones look far better.
don't worry about it - if you worry about it people will notice that you are worried bout it - they honestly won't care unless you keep bringing attention to it. If you are attractive now you will still be attractive, it won't matter.
