Do Tobacco pouches cause gum recession?

I am curious if tobacco chew pouches cause gum recession similar to regular chew that is non pouched. It would seem that the pouch would protect the gums but this may not be the case. Does anybody know?

Yes it does, the nicotine cause vase constriction of the veins and arteries that cause a disminution of the sanguineous flow and this ends (ignoring the other problems that it causes) in gum recession, the gum recession cause dental movement and the dental movement ends in dental loss, so it麓s not only gum recession :S
The nicotine also pigment the gums and teeth, and remove the spots of nicotine in gums is a very painful and annoying process.

No, it doesn't protect the gums, you fool.All it does is keep the little shreds of tobacco in one place instead of all over your mouth.ALL smokeless tobacco products carry a risk of oral cancer, gum inflammation/disease, throat cancer...and yes, receding gums are certainly par for the course.The pouch is a little piece of filter paper. Do you really think that would protect you from anything?Geez, they'd make condoms out of it if it did.YES. Kinda like if you use a coffee filter, you still get coffee. A negligible amount of tobacco juice compounds might get filtered out...but it won't protect you from cancer or anything less severe.

Pouched tobacco is slightly less damaging to the gums then regular chewing tobacco. But only very slightly. There is also the same effect of having tar that close to your enamel.
