Does anyone know of any remedies that stop tooth decay?

Answer:
Once a cavity forms, the only remedy is to go to a dentist. There are NO over-the-counter remedies you can buy that will remove all of the decayed part of the tooth, then seal it off to the way the tooth is supposed to be shaped. Only a dentist and his instruments and restoratives can do that.The biggest cause of tooth decay is failure to remove the sticky white bacterial plaque from your teeth. Whenever there is plaque on your teeth, the germs in the sticky white crud are just happily rotting away at your enamel and attacking your gums.So in order to prevent tooth decay, you want to make sure there is as little plaque as possible on your teeth at all times. That means you need to brush thoroughly (teeth, tongue, gums) to remove plaque after each meal, and before bed. Avoid sugary foods, because the germs in plaque grows best on sugar. Floss every night, and get any existing cavities filled (cavities are festering holes serving as reservoirs for the germs). Get a checkup every 6 months to catch cavities while they are small, easy and inexpensive to fix.Hope this helps.
brush your teeth
check up with dentist
mouthwash
BRUSH,FLORIDE, OR EXTRACT
Remedies don't prevent, they treat. Preventives don't treat, they prevent. Brush your teeth for 3 minutes three times a day, cut down on or avoid sugary foods and drinks, floss your teeth, use an dental rinse and see your dentist every 6 months. These are preventive measures. The only remedy is to have a dentist remove the caries (decay).
brush, floss, go to dentist, use mouthwash, which you should be doing anyways since it is normal oral hygine.
once a tooth starts decaying, you have to get a filling. There is no remedy.
tooth decay is mostly cause by acid,so try bruhing your teeth after eating, especially when you drinks orange juice, lemonade etc.You should alwaystry drinking water after each meal.
The best remedy is prevention! Brush regularly with a flouride toothpaste, rinse with a plaque fighter and floss after meals. Once decay has begun there's nothing you can do to stop it. The cavity will just get bigger and bigger until the pain drives you to a Dentist who will fill it!
Use a fluoride toothpaste and avoid food which could cause cavities
1) Fluoride. If you have a particularly bad case, you can get a prescription from your dentist.2) Co Enzyme Q10 has been shown to support gum tissue, the health of which is necessary for healthy teeth. I know of only one toothpaste that contains Co Q10 and I use it and get great results:
Single tube - http://www.marketamerica.com/pulse99/ind...
six pack - http://www.marketamerica.com/pulse99/ind...
I used to work for a dentist and he would say to use flouride. You can by a mouthwash from walmart called ACT and it can harden up the soft spots.
Your dentist can put a seal on certain teeth. It lasts for about three years. I had it done for my kids. It is milky in color and keeps any food out of the crevices of molars.
Brush Your teeth and go to a Dentist!!

Does anyone know how you can preserve a tooth taken out with roots and so that you can see veins?

What can you use to do that?
Answer:
There are no veins in teeth.
put it in vinger for like two days?
lol i don't know but it works with an egg!
Why the hell would you want to do that? Is this someone elses tooth you have removed? Without permission? This is strange.
there are no VEINS in the roots of your tooth, just the crown of the tooth and the roots.that's all. to preserve the tooth take a glass jar and pour bleach into it and drop the tooth in and cover the jar up tight.
I've heard to put it in milk....

Does anyone know how to whiten EXTREMELY sensitive teeth?

Crest White Strips did the whitening but it also did the stripping! It took a lot of enamel off of my teeth making them very very sensitive, I had to cover my mouth just to inhale (even the warmest air was too "cold"). My dentist told me ZOOM whitening was out of the question because of that but I spent a lot of money on braces/retainers and want to maintain my nice smile. What should I do? I should also mention that I use prescription toothpaste (similar to Sensodyne but stronger) to prevent sensitivity. Help!
Answer:
Crest White Strips cannot remove tooth enamel. You may have congenitally sensitive teeth because of tiny tubules in your teeth.Zoom whitening is a gimmick (as recent studies have shown) and you can do better by using take-home trays.Ask your dentist for a prescription strength fluoride paste (one brand name is Sooth Rx) and use it in the trays before you bleach. It works to seal those tiny tubes so that the sensitivity is greatly reduced. This will work way better than over-the-counter products such as Sensodine.
I use arm and hammer sensitive whitening toothpaste, you may have to use your prescription strength paste after to provide more sensitivity protection. Hope it works!

Does anyone know how to stop the pain or at least help it when it comes to braces?

it is very painful right now and i need some advice.
Answer:
the pain or sensitivity or the discomfort that you are feeling is normal. it will go away after 3-4 days. it will subside. do not drink any pain reliever. y? because the effect will hinder your teeth to move making your braces senseless.
Take 2 Advil and rub numbing gel (like for cold sores or teething babies) on any rough spots where the wires are rubbing you the wrong way.
take a few tylenol is about the only thing you can do until they ease up.
there is really not much you can do. the braces are shifting your teeth, and sometimes its a painful process.when i used to have braces, i would take advil right before i would go in to get them tightned, so that way it would already start kicking in by the time the pain started. keep taking them as directed (2 every 4-6 hours) for the next few days. it should help, but nothing will take the pain away completely. your teeth need to shift.i also used to eat very soft foods, so i wouldn't aggrivate the pain by chewing.
Just some advice...If the sides are digging in your cheeks, make sure to get some beeswax (your ortho should have supplied you with some) on the sides. As far as eating goes, I take it you just recently had them put on, anyway try eating with your back teeth, I find their less painful than the fronts. And if in fact you did just get them put on or tightened then the pain should subside shortly.Dont forget tylenol/advil and in the end it'll all be worth it.
advil
Ibprofen(no clue how to spell it), tylonel(again, dont know how to spell it), Advil, any kind of pain med.
I'm ten and I just got my braces a couple of weeks ago. They hurt for a couple of days. But then they didn't hurt. So if they still hurt then get Motrin or medicine or a pill or something. Feel Better.
OK...Tylenol, Ibeuprofen, Advil, Motrin, Orajel...
believe me you can take away the punch, but it will never comepletely go away ...but in a few days you'll be good...
believe me...I know.
take some advil, then have some nice cold ice cream or cold stuff. The soreness will happen everytime you get them tightend just because your braces are doing their job by strighting them but dont worry, you should be good the next day or 2. I wouldn't use the numbing gell because it taste bad. Just have soft cold stuff to clam down the soreness.

Does anyone know how much it costs to remove braces ??

Answer:
That should be included with the price for the braces...
There's no set prices for removing the braces - as part of the agreement, you paid for braces work from Beginning to End. It's not like you will have braces on for 5 years because you couldn't afford to take them off.I'd say the price to get braces, however, is around $4000, though. Maybe more, maybe less.

Does anyone know how much a general dental check up is under the NHS?

Answer:
free
拢12 if employed free to unemployed and the over 60 and under 18
19.50
its not free, unless you're under 16 or have a valid nhs exemption certificate. ie if you get tax credits or pension or income support etc. otherwise its about 16 quid.
I paid 拢15 two weeks ago for a check up from a NHS Dental Pratice.
It's around 拢16. That's the cheapest option, but it does not include any ongoing treatment. It should include a polish though. There are three charge bands for general treatment - try calling your local PALS service for more information about that, the details of which should be on the NHS direct website:
http://www.nhs.uk/servicedirectories/pag... Type in a search for 'PALS' on the site and you'll be able to find your local one. It might be under, for example, 'Knowsley PCT PALS', PCT means Patient Care Trust - sorry if you already know that, but some people don't, so just to be 100% clear. There will be a phone number or contact details for your local service, and you'll be able to talk to someone about the charges in more detail.
Dental charges are split up into 3 bands拢15.50 鈥?For check ups, x-rays, scale and polish.拢42.40 鈥?For additianal treatment such as fillings and extractions.

拢189.00 鈥?crowns, dentures, bridges
I think it varies from dentist to dentist. My dentist in London charges 拢15.50 for a check-up and clean.
Hey BudI know that the charges for NHS dental treatment were amended as 1 April 2007, and if i'm not mistaken there were three charges expressed which were: 拢15:50 拢42:40 and 拢189 and these charges are dependant upon the level of after treatment.
I hope this is of some use as i read this info about 6 weeks ago and i am quoting those new costs from recollection.
went to a dentist in south east kent a week ago and he charged me 拢15 just to have a look and tell me everything was ok 5 minutes work for 拢15 not a bad job is it .lol
The charges are a percentage of the dentists charge for any work or check up, if they are still using the old system, about 20% of their charge, normally 拢12-拢18. The new system that came in last April would be 拢15.50 which includes some extra treatment. But I am not sure if all dentists will be signed up to the new agreement, so check first. If you are in receipt of benefit or family tax credit you should get free treatment from any NHS dentists. The link below is the new charges PDF file.
Hope this helps
Andy
I have just payed 15pounds 90 pence in blackpool
拢15.90 For a standard nhs check up, this includes xrays and cleaning-which is done at the dentist's discretion.
拢43.60 For any fillings-amalgam on the nhs, this fee also includes the above fee.
拢194 For crowns/dentures, again this fee includes both the above fees.
These are the new nhs charges since 1st april 07!
i have just paid 拢15.90, i think it depends what dentist you see.
From April 06 the NHS Dental check up became free to all - same goes for an eye test
between 拢13 and 拢20 I understand

Does anyone know exactly how thick porcelain veneers are?

i hear that the lumineers are contact lens thin...i asked my dentist and he said my veneers would be contact lens thin...is this true?
Answer:
Lumineers are certainly contact lens thin. The typical veneer is about .5-1 mm thick. If you are using the veneer to bulk out the front side of the tooth they can be a little bit thicker.
The one problem I have heard with lumineers is this. Because they are done with no or very little preparation of the front surface of the tooth, they can have quite a bump at the gumline. A typical veneer is a lot smoother because the dentist removes some of the enamel which is replaced by the veneer and you get a smoother "margin" at the gumline. A bump at the gumline is undesirable because it will be a bit of a plaque collector.
The classic porcelain veneer will measure 1 millimeter in thickness

Does anyone have personal experience with the dental appliance the Occlus-o-Guide?

My daughter's dentist recently recomended she be fitted with a dental appliace called the Occlus-o-Guide to straighten her teeth as they come in. The appliance is suposed to prevent the need for braces. I would like to hear from people who have used this device themselves, had their child use it, or just know someone who used it. I am curious as to weather or not it actually works.
Answer:
How much $$
Looks like it works pretty good. I've had my daughters fitted with different devices like the RPE (rapid palette expander) and braces plus envisoline retainers.I wish I could've used something like this when they were younger instead...

Does anyone have oral maxillofacial surgery to remove 2 impacted bottom wisdom tooth ..?

if yes .. how is the process ..?? is it using local or general
Answer:
If it is impossible to take out it will be general.open your mouth, stick your hand verticaly in .if you can only stick in 2 fingers then you have no choice but general .3 to 4 fingers then maybe local the bigger you can open your mouth the less painful it will be afterwards.all of us can give advice, and none would be the same. it depends on your jaw structure
they give u a choice, either be put to sleep or just numb the area. i had mine numb and watched the surgeon do the extraction.
the pain dont start til u get home and the numbness wears off.
make sure u have motrin , ice bottles, and teabags
I had it done. I didn't have true general anesthesia but I did have Novocaine and a strong relaxant. The surgery itself is no big deal at all. You won't even feel a thing. The next few days suck because you can't really eat real food and it is a pain in the *** but it is no big deal. Also the doctor usually prescribes prescription pain killers so its not a big deal to get to sleep.
it's using local anasthesia....if your dentist is skilled it will not take more than an hour...yes it's a minor surgery..
i got 4 teeth removed on the 18th of June including one lower wisdom tooth. it wasn't as terrible as I thought and they knocked me out (as requested) with a shot not gas. there's swelling which can be fixed with ibuprofen, and a little pain for the first 3-4 days (probably the most pain on the 2-3 days, but nothing totally unbearable). all in all for a sissy like me - I got a lot of good sleep and the pain was very manageable.
I did. I was put under for the removal of all 4 wisdom teeth. The impacted one had to be broken up into small pieces before it could be removed. The next day there was no swelling, bruising or pain.
I had all four of mine taken out under general anesthetic.Take my advice,use ibuprofen as well as normal painkillers or you will end up looking like a hamster. Don't drink from a straw and don't smoke(those actions can cause clots not to form properly)
I did. It was done under a general anaesthetic in the hospital, as they were going to take some effort to remove. My face was swollen for a day or two and basically looked much worse than it felt. The lack of pain once they were removed made a few days discomfort well worth it in the end.My advice is have it done and be rid of the problem.
I have had both my bottom wisdom teeth out as they were impacted and in fact eroding the root of the teeth in front!I had them done on separate occasions and both under a general on a day case. Depending on were the tooth lies on the nerve is what defines of you have to have a local or general.Believe me both my experiences were not pleasant and even though i did my best to keep things clean i still ended up with dry socket and spend the whole of last Christmas in agony.Sorry - to be the bearer of bad news! But this is only my experience - after the second one i then got a spasm in my jaw and had constant earache and kept falling over. They had to treat me with Valium which turned me from a bubbly and outspoken to shy and retiring and not even wanting to answer the front door never mind leave through it.I finally started feeling better after i had forked out hundreds of pounds for acupuncture!! Which worked - Hooray!!
I live in the US, and it is extremely common for people to get their wisdom teeth extracted before they even break the surface, so most people get it done between the ages of about 17 and 20 or 21. Usually, at some point a dentist will notice that they are starting to move, and recommend that they be extracted. I don't know anyone who hasn't had theirs removed, and I only know one person whose wisdom teeth were actually all the way through the surface when they were pulled. Also, when the extraction is done, it is most common for all four to be removed at the same time. The general feeling among dentists here is that it's just better to get them out before they start crowding other teeth or causing pain or problems.Some people go to dentists, but nearly everyone I know had theirs done by an oral surgeon. I also don't know anyone who had it done with a local anesthetic--everyone I know had a general. Since you have two impactions, I imagine it will be done with general, since impactions can take a while to remove.When I had mine done at 18, it was done by an oral surgeon, and under general anesthetic. He had given me Valium for the night before, and another for the morning of the surgery so that I could be calm. When I went in, he put an IV in my hand and started the general anesthetic, and I went to sleep immediately. During the surgery, he found that one of mine was impacted, and he had to use a drill to drill into it in several places. Then he used a tool like a chisel to break the tooth in half. After he had it in pieces, he had to work at it a bit to get it out. The entire procedure took about an hour--20 minutes for the three normal ones, and 40 for the impacted one. Including the time it took me to recover from the general anesthesia, the entire thing took about two hours.Different surgeons use different methods for removing impacted wisdom teeth. I have a friend and her surgeon's technique was to cut into the jaw and make an opening so he could get to the bottom of the impacted teeth and pry them up. She had a lot more pain, and it took her longer to heal because of that business of cutting into the bone. She is the only person I know of who had that done that way, though. Usually, as far as I know, the surgeon just works from the top, even if it simply means breaking the tooth and pulling out the pieces.The procedure and the process is very simple. You will be put to sleep, your surgeon will tug and pull and do whatever is necessary to get the impacted teeth out, and then you will wake up. You will have some pain, and may very well have some swelling, but usually they give prescription pain medication for pain management. The longest recovery I have ever heard of was a person who had all four impacted, and it took him a week to get back to feeling normal.Don't be nervous, and don't be scared. It is a fairly common procedure, and it sounds like you will be having it done by a surgeon. There is some discomfort as you heal, but most doctors are very good about giving strong medication for that. I did not have any swelling, but the people I know who did have told me ice packs help reduce that. You will probably feel tired and sore for a few days, but you will be back to normal in a short time.Best of luck!

Does anyone have Medco as there pharmacy carrier? What has been your experience?

I'm finding that MEDCO has more and more drugs off of there formulary and are more and more restrictive about which meds you're allowed to use without having to ask your doctor to write them a letter (which docs hate doing). Sometimes, they won't even renew a written prescription even if you're out of medicine. Who else is having this experience with MEDCO?
Answer:
I'd recommend checking the site below. They offer free Prescription Card for 1 yr just for checking out there video. Try to watch most of it. They have a timer. Its not long at all:) I use there prescription card and the saving our amazing.Good luck.
Many prescription drug plans have this problem.How will doctors earn their money if you do not go to them for refills and consultations?!I have heard of fantastic savings and sometimes very little savings with Medco Health. The reason is the way the pharmaceutical companies work.
My friend Gizzla used it to get six pills. Total cost $120. She paid less than $10 with Medco health! My friend had to get antibiotics. Cost-$30 She paid $4. My son saved just 90cents on his prescription :(They all used this Benefits plan that included Prescription Drugs(Medco)http://mybenefitsplus.com/wpaul...

Does anyone have braces.?

I do I just want to know is any one has like embarrasing storys or problems.
Answer:
well i have braces and elastics (the ones you stretch from the bottom to top to bottom again) and i was in the gym during a break at school, and i was busy with both hands, and one snapped, but it got stuck and was hanging out of my mouth, and i couldnt pull it out, and eventually i had to get it out, but yah elastics are brutal, and then the usual, food etc, one time the front bracket popped off (because i have a filling in my front tooth (i have had weak teeth since birth)) and so the brackey was sliding around and i was talking and while i was doing a presentation every time i said something it would spin and slide, eventaully it ended up flipped around pushed against the next tooth, i then cut my lip on it, . . . fun
Plenty..The first time I had them I had trouble getting used to them, so when I spoke i would *blushes* spit all over the place.. my friends stared at me all weird..
I also couldn't eat right so I smacked alot. (grew out of it! woohoo!)This is my second time with braces and the only problem I have now is that I get food caught in 'em, or that when I smile real big my lips get caught on my braces and I can't free myself very easily.. lol..
I used to and no I never did, everyone thought I was cute in them.
i never had , planning on getting though, but to me in this day and age ppl (adults and kids) have them and no one makes fun of them. Atleast where i come from. i say if you want that perfect smile to hell with what others say and go ahead. You will look great at the end.

Does anyone have any suggestions for self extraction of a chipped tooth?

I have to pull this tooth it hurts more and more and I think it might get infected. I have no money or insurance so I don't know what else to do. I tried to use plyers but its in there so tight. Should I cut through the gum and what can I use to prevent infection besides peroxide. And is there anything that could tenderize the gums so it might loosen up. It feels like I could crush it with the plyers and that would bad. Is there anyone out there that is not quite a dentist and needs some one to practice on? It hurts so bad I am thinking of getting myself convicted cause I think they might do it Im not sure. Its hard to concentrate and think logically right now but I am going crazy and I need to do something. What did people do before dentistry? Please punch me in the face lower left side knock my tooth out. Mental Dental caveman tooth extraction. I'll borrow money from the mob. What should I do cut the gum should I get drunk first then I will slip and cut my whole mouth open.
Answer:
Do not pull it out yourself. It will get infected. Go and get some clove oil from the pharmacy. That will numb the tooth instantly then go to hospital. If you pull it out yourself you will prob faint with the pain and then you will be in a very sticky situation.
If you are in that much pain, it's probably already infected. If you pull it while infected, you will release the germs into your body. NOT GOOD. If you do it your self, you likely will break off the tooth. This will result in immediate and constant pain, and a much more expensive process.go to a dentist. Many will allow you to pay a few dollars a week. If you are near a dental school, you might get it done for free. If you live in a large city, there are dental clinics that will charge based on income. DO NOT DO THIS YOURSELF
If you go to any E.R they will remove it for you and bill you later- trust me you rather worry about that bill later than an infected mouth. Don't pull it yourself!
Attempting to extract the tooth yourself can lead to additional problems for you... the 'top' of the tooth may come out, but you may end up leaving the roots in place, since they're supported by the bone. No matter how much you 'slice and dice' yourself, you won't get access to the roots.Find a dental school near you. If that is not an option, call a dentist for an emergency visit, and tell them you are in severe pain. Chances are they won't refuse you, and hopefully they'll be able to make some kind of payment arrangements with you.If you wait, and the tooth is infected, it can travel further into your body, making matters even worse..Good luck.
The words "self" and "extraction" should NEVER, NEVER, NEVER, NEVER go together!!! I am a dentist and I'd never even THINK about trying that on myself!Go to an emergency room near you.
I agree with teethdoc, I am a dentist myself and even I would never consider self extraction and I have all of the instruments to perform it. Extraction of a tooth a home almost always leads to infection which can is not only excruciating pain but can also prove to be fatal if left untreated. Do yourself a HUGE favor and have this tooth pulled by a dentist, he/she will numb your gums with a Lidocaine injection and will pull the tooth correctly.

Does anyone have any good root canal experiences to share with me?

...I could use some reassurance, please.
Answer:
If your tooth is not infected when you go in for the appointment, generally root canals are not that bad. They are able to get you numb enough when no infection is there. Take some headphones and player with your favorite music, wear your darkest sunglasses if you'd like. Close your eyes and just let them do their stuff. Many of my patients have said it was a lot easier than they thought it would be, it was just like a long filling appointment. Take some anti inflammatory meds. prior to the appointment. Tell your dentist you did. This will help the medication already be in your system. You will have soreness from both the injections and the pressures applied to the tooth. You will need to take more later too, but this way it is there if the numbness wears off quickly. You'll be fine...
I had a root canal it was almost painless , since the pulp in my tooth had decayed away. Now I have no problem with my tooth.
My sister has had several. Note repeat root canals. So they must be not so bad! You can do it!
I've had 2 root canals and the first one I had went very well. I was probably like 12 and I've always been afraid of the dentist but it was totally painless. I got 1 quick shot of novocaine and the rest of the time I just kind of sat there and watched a movie will the dentist poked at my tooth. I didn't think it was even as bad as a filling because there was less drilling and grinding and stuff. The only thing is that it takes a really long time.
I have a wonderful endodontist who is very caring and gentle. I have had six root canals and they have all been just fine. They numb you enough to where you don't feel anything but the pressure their putting on you when they drill and so forth. I just close my eyes and think of something else, and pretty soon it's all over.Good luck!
Sorry, But most fail and you have to have the tooth removed.

Does anyone else open everything with their teeth?

What do you use your teeth to open?
Answer:
Nothing! I've had a patient that broke a tooth trying to tear open a plastic bag. Granted, the tooth was unstable, but it wasn't worth the cost of the x-ray and filling. It's so much cheaper to buy scissors!

Does anyone else find this disgusting?

I've just come back from a long weekend away %26 my brother asked why I had taken his toothbrush with me.
It so isn't his one but he thought it was %26 has been using it for a couple of months. I feel a bit icky just thinking about the fact I've been sharing it, I'm i over reacting?
Answer:
No you're not! We had a guest stay for the wknd a few weeks ago. In the morning I went to use my toothbrush and it was already wet - the "guest" had been using it!! Suffice to say they're not invited over for a while and when they do come around there'll be a nice new travel toothbrush waiting for them!!
I'm with you on this one.I wouldnt let anyone near my toothbrush.yuk!
no i would be going mad
lol, buy a pink toothbrush, then he'll leave it alone...
No I don't think you're over reacting. It's horrible. However he is your brother so not as bad as it would be had it been a stranger using your toothbrush.
oh yes.that is gross...just the thoughts of using someone else's toothbrush is enough to make me cringe.I dont care whose is may be...SORRY that happened to you.
You'd have just loved living in the UK during the last War! Toothbrushes couldn't be found in the shops most of the time and whole families were reduced to sharing one worn-out brush.
Toothpaste didn't exist - a hard disc of pink gritty stuff was often the best you could do while some people used salt or a mixture of soot and salt!
Yes, you are right, it is disgusting but its happened and you need to get over it. but I would go right out and get myself a new brush, pronto!
I wouldn't be impressed at all YUK! Probably wash my mouth out with dettol lol.
Yes totally gross, whats wrong with the boy didnt he realise he didnt buy it.
I am totally obesessed with clean stuff, especially my toothbrush/mouth, that I keep my toothbrush in my room instead of the bathroom with everyone elses.
You can get absusess (however its spelt) that way. Sharing bacteria that can cause tooth decay.
I wouldnt even be able to share my own bf's toothbrush.
i wouldnt like to use someone elses toothbrush but don't worry its your brother so it's not too bad :-)
omg i would be sooo grossed out and beat up my brother ahah
Oh please, you will pick up more germs from a passionate kissing session, as you have been sharing for a couple of months now its clear you are not going to catch anything or you would have done so, put it behind you, its not the end of the world!!

Does anyone brush and floss like they should yet still have issues with cavities and abscesses?

Answer:
Some people are more prone to dental decay and peridontal disease than others. Some people could go without brushing or flossing a lifetime and never develop decay. On the other hand, there are those of us (like myself) that require constant scrutiny and care to maintain a semi-healthy dental state. I see my dentist 3 times a year (instead of the recommended 2). I also undergo deep planing and root scaling every 5 or so years. This may be exactly what you need. DPRS consists of an peridontist or trained dental hygienist scraping the roots of your teeth with specialized instruments under local anesthesia. Nitrous oxide or a sedative may also be administered.
I have braces so I brush all the time and bought a waterpic, when I went for a cleaning they praised me because there was hardly anything there to clean, but I have to go back to get 2 cavities filled %26 3 sealants done.
She said it's impossible to prevent because the grooves in my molars are very deep and it's just inevitable.
So don't feel bad!
yes.
I've always had really 'soft' teeth so cavities are just a way of life for me :( I just went to the dentist and asked them if they could prescribe a fluride treatment for home. They gave me a bottle of Crest that has 1.1% fluride in it and said that it should work. My advice, just ask your dentist what else you could be doing and lay off the soda!
Yep i still get cavities

Does anybody know a good way to whiten your teeth naturally?

I brush my teeth after every meal and never had a cavity. However, my coffee addiction seems to be staining my teeth a little.
Answer:
Indeed coffee will do that. Assuming you don't read other posts on this site...some people say strawberries are a natural way to brighten teeth. I could not find any scientific literature that would back this up. People where saying mush up strawberries and brush them onto your teeth. I am sure the bacteria on your teeth enjoyed this treatment enough to cause some cavities!
There is no natural way to safely and effectively whiten your teeth. Other people would say use baking soda and peroxide. But again, these compounds have not been shown to do anything for your teeth. Only change the taste of certain toothpastes. Using Baking soda would be more abrasive than normal toothpaste and that just strips your teeth of their enamel. Hydrogen peroxide is hard on your gums. Hydrogen peroxide will whiten teeth if it is kept next to your teeth for extended periods of time. H202 kept near your gums for extended periods of time will really damage your gums.
well idk but i would also like to know!
consult a dentist n wash ur teeth each time u drink coffee.u can chew something like chewing gum 4 ur teeth too.
its not natural, but its the oldfashioned waybaking soda with hyrdrogen peroxide
used it for years and love it.
bicarbonate soda is meant to work,not sure how abrasive it,tho it is found in tooth paste sometimes
I have the same problem and would also like an answer to this question.
Mix baking soda with peroxide. It should be a thin paste when mixed properly. Use this instead of toothpaste. Only mix what you will use at time of brushing. It doesn't store well.
use crest prohealth. its a lifesaver. chew orbit after drinking coffee. and wash your mouth with listerine after every brushing.
ummm.. you could try crest whitestrips. they work for me.
I tell my patients to follow each dark beverage with water. Anything such as, coffee, tea or wine can cause staining. I use Crest strips and do not experience any type of sensitivity. Although each person is different. There are also many different brands of gum on the market now that are advertised as whitening.
My dentist said to use baking soda, no peroxide as it is not good for the tissue on the inside of your mouth. Contrary to popular belief, it kills good tissue. The baking soda is not too abrasive and will not remove the enamel if used once a day.
Options:1. mix on small plate the following
1 tsp baking soda
dash of salt
then add a few drops of white vinegar, which will foam. Then brush with toothpaste afterwards. 2. Gargle with hydrogen peroxide.3. Use 100% Apple Cider Vingar brush your teeth.4. strawberries are natural teeth whiteners.5. To whiten teeth naturally, you need to remove the bacteria that causes staining. This can be done by consuming food that produces a good flow of saliva like apples, guava, carrots, pears, sugar cane, celery, cucumbers and cauliflowers. The fibre content in these foods helps in removing the bacteria.

Does anybody have any tips or stories? I get my braces off in a couple hours!!?

Answer:
Well, you'll probably keep looking at yourself in the mirror %26 smiling. Thats what I did. Also in art class they made me the model, and everyone had to draw my new smile. It was so worth it after be called metal mouth %26 tin grin. lol
prepare yourself for a new wonderful world. your mouth will feel new.
Your mouth is going to feel so empty! Like there is a mile between your lip and teeth. I actually wanted my braces back on! I chewed gum and put it where my braces were to fell normal.
Getting your braces off doesn't hurt really at all. They just take out the wire (like they do every month for tightening) then pop off the brackets. The worst part is having to get all the glue filed off your teeth. It takes so long and the sound is just..horrible! But no pain really.PS You'll probably get a retainer and be required to wear it every day all day. Just forewarning you because I was so excited to get them off then I was so upset having to walk out of there with the stupid retainer on!
When I was getting my braces off I accidently bit my ortho.'s finger. I also got my tongue cut when they were taking off the cement. After the braces were off and I was all cleaned up I got a bag of all the candy that I couldn't eat with the braces and a balloon! I was so happy. I also went home and brushed my teeth a few times it feels weird you should try it. Good Luck and Congratulations! :)

Does anybody have any tips on braces?

I'm getting mine this week on the 11th of July and I want to know what I'm allowed to eat and how often I should brusk my teeth...etc. Feel free to add any of your personal comments!
Answer:
I've had braces for half a year and let me tell you it hurts more after a tightening then getting them right away. Now about braces where to start? Ok well when it comes to food you have to be careful. You shouldn't have any gum, sticky or hard candy. They actually told me not to have pop or chocolate but i've not been following those rules. But I have avoided pop that die your mouth because it staines your teeth. Basically stay away form anything that will stain your teeth. When eating corn on the cob you have to take a knife and cut the corn off first before eating it because it's bad for the brackets to eat it on the cob. Eat things in good sized peices. Avoided biting with your front teeth, like carrot stick etc. No more big apples. You now will have to cut an apple up before eating it.I'd say brush your teeth after everything you eat! I know it's annoying but trust me you don't want to be walking around with food in your teeth, it will now be more likely to have food in your teeth. If you don't have a tooth brush give your teeth a good rinse. Do not use whitening tooth paste! Trust me on this if you do you'll end up with little squares on your teeth. So from now on no more whitening toothpaste.Don't worry too much about them, they do feel really weird but it'll feel normal soon. Also don't complain to people about it hurting because no one like it when people don't stop complaining. Best of luck and when you get them off and have a retainer wear it when ever you have to! If you don't your teeth will go right back to where they were before you had braces.Also if they are hurting take some advil or motrin to sooth the pain. Trust me it will work, don't ignore it if it hurts. Also if something is sticking out funny or rubbing you can put some wax that they should give you on it.
Don't eat anything hard, chewy, or sticky. The orthodontist should give you a list of what to avoid. Brush your teeth as much as you normally would, only a little more carefully with braces. Good luck!Edit: I advise you to take Advil before(so it kicks in) you get them on and before the first few tightenings. They may hurt.
(i have braces myself) here are some tips.1. eat a good last meal before you get them on. you can't enjoy a lot of foods after you get them on such as candy, popcorn and meat on bones2. have your mom prepare some oatmeal or not-hard-or sticky food after you get them on. your teeth should feel really sore after ward and its best not to eat hard food3. brush after every time you eat. you are prob. going to wear your braces for at least a year or so. you don't want your teeth to get all dirty and messed upthat's about it. your orthodontist should fill you in on anything else you'll need to know.good luck!
dont get them
don't eat anything chewy or hard it'll bend the wire hope this helps ^x^
Take advil prior to your appointment and two after. Brush often, after every meal if possible. You can eat almost anything, everyone is different. I had a difficult time with salads. No gum as advised by the orthodontist, this causes your treatment to last longer. But advil was my savior, prior to all my appointments. Good Luck!! It is worth having a lovely smile, and don't forget after it is all done, wear your retainers forever! Teeth move always.
Congratulations!! I had braces for two and a half years. So, just don't eat things your orthodontist says not to eat first of all. And brush your teeth after every meal, and floss. The day you get them on, take a couple of Advil before you go. It'll help with any pain, and I recommend doing that before you get them adjusted as well, and when you get them off too. You'll be soooo excited the day they come off! I just couldn't believe how good my teeth looked. Take good care of yourself, and you'll be really glad you did when you see your gorgeous teeth. And ALWAYS wear that retainer! That way your teeth will stay straight. Best wishes ;-)
Well, I have braces and they aren't that bad when you get use to them. I have had mine for 4 months so far and I have about 3 years left!
Well for the food thing I suggest that you wait for any hard food for a couple days when you first get your braces, like applesause and mash potatoes . Then after that you shouldn't eat anything sticky, or chewy. Also you aren't allowed to have gum or anything hard like all different types of candy. Your Ortho with have a HUGE list of what you are and aren't not allowed to have. Before you go to the Ortho to get your braces on I suggest you take a motrain, advil, or tylenol. You might need it, trust me!!You should brush your teeth 3 times a day but then I suggest you get ACT mouthwash maybe kids bubblegum flavor cause you aren't allowed to have bubble gum.I hope this helps!Hopefully you won't need spacers or expander but if you do always take medication so it won't hurt that much

Does anybody else get cold when they brush their teeth?!?

When I brush them I get goosbumps all over me and my hairs stick on end! No-one else I know gets this! Im not worried though, was just wondering..
Answer:
no I don't. But maybe you have/had an oral aversion. Do other things in your mouth make you shutter?
That is really weird.
No that's strange...you might have sensitive teeth, or be sensative to cold.
nope, i don't...that's odd...
No, I get thirsty

Does any1 know that only hospital will perform general only .. in singapore ??

Does any1 know any ways to whiten my teeth without white strips?

Does any1 know anything i can do at home to whiten my teeth ya know with stuff found around the house? I would like to c results as soon as possible but anything will do.-thx
Answer:
Hydrogen Peroxide is the best choice. First floss, then brush with hydrogen peroxide, then brush with toothpaste. After a few days you will have a very white smile. I actually got better results doing this than using the expensive whitestrips which were very annoying to wear and irritating to my gums. Don't throw your money away on white strips. All they are anyway is hydrogen peroxide!
baking soda might help, at least ive heard it does but im not sureIv'e also heard Hydrogen peroxide mixed with baking soda but hydrogen peroxide is toxic if you swallow it sooo you might not want to mess with it*iv'e never tried so i dont know if it acualy works this is just what ive heard.
Wet your toothbrush with peroxide, then put baking soda and brush, make sure you rinse well.
this is not a joke and it does work alot of celebs do it and it is really easy, get some strawberries and rub them on your teeth, i think you are supposed to crush them up and do it and its supposed to whiten them like alot and it doesnt take long to see results. i was going to try it but i havent gotten any stawberries lately. plus i am going to the dentist like next week and im just gonna get them to do it b/c i have to get a cavity fixed anyways, but seriously try this it really works my aunt did it.
Bakign soda. my uncle was a heavy smoker and his teeth stayed really white because he brushed with bakign soda every mornign and every night. And i'm referrign to actual bakign soda right out of the box.
i use baking soda all the time and it works really good for clean white teeth!good luckfrom the staff of http://www.boeafitness.com
baking soda and water brush your teeth with it!
Brush them more than often?
peroxide. swish a capful in mouth while you bath or shower for 10 min a day.

Does any1 had 4 wisdom tooth removed at 1 time ..?? and does dry socket appear at 1 of the extraction?

or all 4 extracted hole ??i so scared now ... lol..
Answer:
i have all 4 out at the same time. and i had dry socket in one of my lower ones. but i'm almost positive that u can get dry socket in all 4 at once. good luck!
i had all four done at this same time, not a huge deal, might as well heal one time to avoid dry socket do what your dentist tells you, no straws, no smoking etc
I had all of my wisdom teeth removed at once and I didn't get dry socket at all.You'd be at risk for dry socket at each extraction site, but as long as you keep the extraction sites clean and are careful with eating for the first few days the risk is pretty low.
I also had all 4 removed at once, it does hurt but they give you pain killers. To avoid dry socket avoid sucking motions eg smoking as it can suck out the blood clot sealing the wound, you'll know if you have it because apparantly it really hurts. Good luck you will be fine.
There's no reason for dry socket to appear at all, if you are careful and obey the post-surgical instructions exactly (especially concerning foods you can eat and cleaning your mouth). If you have dry socket, go get checked out immediately.
If you had the surgery this morning, then you should pack your jaw with ice for about 10 hours.

Does any one know, anything about bruxer(grinding of teeth or clamping of Jaws) while sleeping in most cases?

i have woken up twice now with a pain in my jaws and the only thing i could relate the pain to was if i'd held my jaw clumped shut for ages. Does anyone out there know what this means or what might be causing me to do this.
Answer:
well night grinding or bruxism is a codition where patients grind teeth while sleeping and there are various causes for it to develop as mental stress ,occlusal stress due to some over or high filling or some illfitting prosthesis or restoration and sometimes while orthodontic treatment,anxiety,fear are the usual causes it leads to loss or wearing of tooth structure leading to sensitivity and temporomandibular joint disorders like discitis etc
you should avoid stress and do certain relaxation exercises or can even take help of psychologists to relieve stress and consult your dentist to get yourself a habit breaker or mouth guard or correction of the restoration or prosthesis.
It can be a zinc difficiency. Ten mg once daily and see what happens.
This is a normal habit that some people experience when sleeping. This can be caused by stress or a nervous habit that helps you get to sleep. I would suggest going to the dentist to get a nightguard so you don't grind down the cusps of your teeth and have to spend a lot of money to get it fixed.
yes .. its stress.. whenever i stress my jaws are killing me ..because when i sleep i stay clenched for hours ..they sell teeth gaurds at walgreens ..i beleive ..
~~~ Possibly stress is causing you to grind and clench your teeth at night. Doing this for a long period of time may wear down your teeth. I suggest going to your Dentist and get fitted for a night guard if it continues. Or you can also go to your local drug store and purchase one over the counter. They are about $20.00, easy directions for fitting to your teeth. I did ask my Dentist what the difference was,, her nightguards vs less expensive. She said over the counter ones are fine for temporary, but if grinding/clenching is ongoing and serious, then a professionally fitted one from the Dentist is suggested for better fit and comfort.
Stress can cause clenching or grinding, which can cause mobility and chipping of teeth, I know from experience and have been a dental assistant for quite a while, try an athletic night guard from a sporting goods store, if that works well have your dentist make a professional one, this allows your jaw to stay in a neutral position, eliminating pain most often
It usually due to stress, try to reduce the tension in your life. From http://aches.in/bruxism.html
I agree with the majority of answers...But I would skip the OTC 'nightguard' or 'sportsguard' and put that money towards a professional one from your dentist. It will be more snug-fitting to your teeth and won't need to be replaced quite so soon.Some people grind/clench/brux during the daytime hours without even realizing it.Good Luck!:)
The Clamping of the Jaws is something that we call "TMJ" short for Temper Mandibular Joints. There are ways to treat these some will go away in time. It is best if you go and see your Dentist/Orthodontist.
Did anyone hear you grinding your teeth? If not then how many packs of gum have you been chewing on in a day? If you've been gritting your teeth or sucking on themin your sleep youll notice in the morning your tongue will have a funny shape in the morning when you stick it out and look at it..the shape of all your teeth.. Why it happens.. I dunno but maybe your mad at someone dreaming about it.. or you chew too much gum..
Does an upper labial frenectomy alter your upper lip shape even many years later when lips thin and droop?
The point of the frenectomy is to minimize the gap between two front teeth.
Answer:
As a dental hygienist of 15 years I don't think I have seen any problems with frenectomies causing alteration of upper lip shape. It is just a very thin tissue that they snip, so I find it unlikely. Though you are right in that lips will thin as you age, though mouth drooping or changing of facial shape is due to loss of teeth which often happens later in life.
Hope that helps,
JAMRDH - a dental hygienist
Since when do lips (on the face) thin and droop? My Mother died at 84 and had great lips, and my Grandmother at 93 and she had great lips also.I think you are mistaken.
A frenectomy is to cut away overgrowth of gum tissue between your front teeth, so it really wouldn't affect your lip shape. The frenum farther up you gums, by your lip is left intact.
I just had this procedure about 4 months ago. In my case, my lip area changes. It came down, like a venetian blind. I noticed it more than anyone else. The point of the frenectomoy is to prevent the teeth from re-developing a secondary gap. Is your mom getting braces?
Your frenum attachment is very strong and therefore causing pulling pressures against your 2 front teeth. The lips are very powerful, they actually stop outward movement of your teeth. Its not the frenum that makes the shape of your lips. The teeth actually are what make your lips retain their shape. If a person looses teeth, the lip line starts to droop. The frenum's just keep the lips and tongue from having too much freedom.
Does an open sinus post tooth pulling require immediate treatment?
I had a problem tooth and had it pulled. I was told that the root of this tooth went thru the sinus. The dentist packed it with gel foam and advised me to be careful and not to sneeze, cough, etc. Then, disaster--the stitches fell out followed by the gel packing. Now, I have this weird suction feeling with air--the sinus is back open. I am already taking antibiotics. Is this an emergency or can I wait until Monday morning to see the dentist?
Answer:
Go to the emergency room. I had a similar situation and the dentist told me to go to the emergency room.
When I had a tooth removed, I had the same thing and they just left it open to close over on its own (and sent me home with antibiotics). I think it would probably depend upon how large the hole is and how easily it can close on its own.
Call your dentist and he/she will tell you what they think should be done..But you should be fine until monday unless it is really hurting you but if it's just annoying then you'll be fine...Good Luck
Does a 9-year-old who has only lost 6 teeth need a palatal expander for a crossbite?
My son will soon be 9, and we were told that he needs a palatal expander to help his crossbite. He has only lost 6 teeth so far. The orthodontist said that he would need the expander for 6 months, then would have to wear a retainer. He did not mention braces, but the office manager kept referring to the treatment as "Phase I" and mentioned braces a few times. Phase I will cost $1500 for this 6 month treatment. Do you think this is appropriate at this point?
Answer:
The general consensus for dentists and orthodontists on this matter as far as I am aware is that crossbites should be dealt with as soon as possible no matter what age as they can have negative effects on the teeth and jaws as the patient grows. The expander is more for developing his jaw bone as opposed to moving the teeth hence being termed Phase One. Phase Two involves more aligning the teeth like braces do. If it was my child I would defintely go for Phase one treatment if there was a problem. You might be able to avoid Phase Two altogether if you are lucky. If the jaws are the correct shape and size then the teeth may align themselves adequately. Good luck.
YOU CAN'T EVER PUT A PRICE ON THE APPROPRIATE CARE FOR SON'S DENTAL HEALTH.
IN FORTHCOMING YEARS THIS WILL ALL BE "WATER UNDER THE BRIDGE."
Save your money until he is a teen. My daughter has the same problem. The ortho said she would benifit from it, so when she was 10, she had "phase 1" She had the expander in for a year %26 I didn't see any difference. She is now 12. It is like, I flushed $2000 down the toilet. I was %26 still am very disappointed with the result.
Yes. You want to expand the palate before his sutures are fused. Once the expansion has been completed, the appliance should be left in place so that the bone has filled the suture site. 3mths to expand, 3mths to hold .
If you orthodontist did not explain what cross bite is then you should ask him to. The expander will hopefully move those teeth into the correct position. They refer to it as phase I because so much depends on whether the other teeth come in correctly once the cross bite is corrected. One thing you have to remember is that cross bite is a functional problem and not just appearance based. If you do not repair the cross bite, over the years he will wear those teeth down and not be able to chew food correctly. I think you are starting him at the right age. If you wait until he is a teenager, it is a lot harder to get the results you want. If a child has to go into ortho, the earlier the better. I started my daughter into ortho at age 8 and we never had to get to phase II. Good luck!
Do your teeth become loose when your braces come off?
can you feel them loose? can you eat a whole entire apple? or are they weak?
Answer:
when i got my top braces off they didn't hurt or feel weak at all..the only thing that stopped me from eating hard stuff was the fact that i got my bottom braces tightened the same day and THAT hurt. lol. you're teeth will hurt a bit when you brush the first couple times though because the brush will be closer to your gums than it was when you brushed with braces. make sure to wear the retainer that your orthodontist made for you EVERY NIGHT (or whenever s/he tells you) because your teeth WILL move. not drastically in one night, but over a period of a couple days they'll move. you probably cant tell visibly; however your retainer will feel tighter or feel like it doesnt fit.
My teeth were not loose when mine came off, BUT my braces (the adhesive used to put the brackets on) did eat through the enamel on my teeth. Now, eleven years later, I have to get extensive dental work done from what my braces did to virtually every tooth in my mouth. It wasn't worth it to me, but there are many success stories. As far as being loose, mine weren't, and I have not heard about that happening to many people afterwards. But it does happen to some; I believe it's because of how bone tissue regenerates when the braces are on the teeth... causing the teeth to be loose after removal. I think it's temporary, but I'd get in touch with my orthodontist to be sure.
No, they wont be weak or loose. They'll feel weird at first but there is no worry of them falling out. When you get them off, talk to your orthodontist about it. He/she will be able to answer any questions you may have.
no, but there's a possibility to loose it when you get it off immediately
Well, you should be wearing a retainer of some sort after they come off, which will come out when you eat. The retainer helps keep your teeth in place while they set. You probably wont be able to eat an apple like normal for a while. When I got my braces off, I had to cut apples in segments so that it didn't damage my front teeth-still do. Your teeth wont be terribly loose, but it is best to not put them through a strenuous workout when you first get the braces off.Take care
Do you think you look/looked better with braces on (if you have/has braces)?
I think they look cute on some people. Does anyone think they look better with braces on?
Answer:
When I had braces I thought they looked ok, and then when i got them off i hated it! I was so self conscious of my teeth! It took a while to get use to not having braces. Now i love not having them. I love my teeth with out. I think they look so much better. And i hate that i have to get them again. Some people look good, some look bad. But if you look bad people will just get use to it and it a few weeks it will be no big deal. Some people look really good and cute!
good luck! %26lt;3
I definitely didn't look good with braces, but braces looked natural on two of my friends.
I think i look better with might on, in ways i look cute lol
i like better off! i like the smiles i c too...less nerdy! j/k lol i agree w/ u tho. some ppl look good w/ braces when theyre younger, but who rlly wants to wear them 4ever?
i think my braces are really cute on me, but i cant wait to get them off though. i cant wait to see the results.
Well I think I look better with braces on, because my teeth are much straighter. lol.
Do you think you could bite off a finger?
something to think about
Answer:
People suffering from Lesch-Nyhan Syndrome do it compulsively.. They constantly bite at their own fingers. I've seen a few patients with this syndrome when I was working in a hospital.http://www.ninds.nih.gov/disorders/lesch...
yes if u are crazy
Personally-no... but some mad man could...
i know a guy who did bite the tip of a guys nose off in a bar fight. didn't see - thank goodness. but i believe him. so...based on that, i think you could bite to tear the skin, tendons and such off a finger, but i don't think you could go thru bone. and it is nothing i would have thought about until i read your question. eeeeeeewwww.
thanks for That thought for the Day!? if i had to
Technically, yes, a person could bite off a finger.Personally, no, I wouldn't bite off a finger. ;)
Teeth are as strong as knives, and you can cut a finger off (my uncle did that), so yea if you bite super hard you can bite the tip of your finger.
Do you think stem cell research will lead to regrowing teeth?
If they can manipulate cells to become different organs, do you think in the future we will once again be able to regrow our teeth so it is the natural look when we are older or have had problems?
Answer:
Yes, tooth regeneration is possible.The last time I heard about it, research is ongoing at the University of Texas at Austin's Molecular Biology department, where they have actually grown a tooth in a petri dish.It will be at least 20 years though before tooth regeneration becomes a procedure available to the general public.The tooth is indeed formed by a "tooth organ." A tooth organ develops from neural tissue in the embryo, and there are various tooth-forming cells in the tooth organ such as ameloblasts (lays down enamel) and odontoblasts (lays down dentin).We'll see what the future brings. :-D
NO
i think in future people can have teeth like dracula
I doubt it. Teeth aren't organs, so I don't know if it would even be possible. Stem cell research is far more likely to be focused on treatments for life-threatening conditions anyway.
yes they will surely succeed one day, A stem cell from organs and tissues after birth (including umbilical cord and placenta) that can renew itself and transform into other specialized cell types.
several stem cell therapies are routinely used to treat disease today?These include:Adult Stem Cell Transplant: Bone Marrow Stem Cells
Adult Stem Cell Transplant: Peripheral Blood Stem Cells
Umbilical Cord Blood Stem Cell Transplant
There's a new high-tech version of the tooth fairy, but some scientists aren't ready to bite.
Austin-based startup company BioEden Inc. has opened the nation's first baby tooth bank, which harvests and freezes stem cells from a tooth's pulp. The hope is that the cells may someday be useful to treat disease or heal paralyzing spinal cord injuries.Currently, it's not clear whether such cells could do anything more than help grow the dentin that could be used to reconstruct a broken tooth. Scientists say it will take at least five to 10 years to find out.
But for a $595 processing fee and $89 a year for storage, BioEden will harvest and cryogenically preserve the cells until scientists find a use for them.
Do you think my orthodontist should be able to do this?
okay.
my orthodontist said that if i break my braces 3 or more times he will start charging me for the breakages. i have had 2 breakages already, but they werent my fault because i was doing everything that he told me to do.
breakages:
1. the wire going to my molar has a gap because i got a tooth pulled, they didnt tighten my wire so the wire came undone and broke. (they counted that as a breakage even when they did tell me that it was their fault. 2. One of the four front teeth on the bottom was to far back and the bracket and wire kept poping off, and again the told me it was their fault but they still counted it.when we first went to the orthodontist he told me that he would only charge me it i broke all three of them. (and i know that he isnt just keeping count, because he tells me everytime i go in that i only have one more breakage for the next two years)
Answer:
Your orthodontist is trying to get you to be more careful with your wires and brackets so you don't extend your time in ortho. He can charge if he wants, but it's mostly a scare tactic to get your attention.Sometimes it's our fault but most times it's the patients, and most of you know it is but wouldn't dare admit it! Oh come on, we're not dummies, we know and its usually because most of us have had braces our selves. Just try to be more careful, every time you break something, it really sets you back since the tooth isn't activated when the bracket is off or the wire breaks and it sets us back when we have to work you in to fix it. Take care of them so you will have a beautiful smile to be proud of! Good luck with your ortho!Additional information: Do you seriously want me to believe they are putting "broken wires and brackets on" and then accusing you of breaking them? I don't think any of my patients ever accused me of that one. You may want to stop or be careful of the gum, candy, biting into foods is another one, cut everything up even pizza and hamburgers, pulling on the wires when you floss (I hope you floss) which can cause the brackets to pop off and bend the wires especially at the openings where you are missing teeth. Maybe some of this sounds familiar and will help you to realize that you may be putting some stress on your ortho that shouldn't be placed on it. Just tell your orthodontist that you are trying hard not to break anything and maybe they can give you some other pointers or start looking for stronger cement for your brackets. Good luck!
tell him this and if he still chooses to act the fool and continue to count the breakages against you then just get another orthodontist you could also look up you legal rights or his policy if there is a limit then check out the amounts times you could break you braces in the given time period you could also check out the policies of other orthodontists in your area.
Do you think lime and yellow look good on braces?
Click here if you have to check how it looks like:
http://drjohnking.com/bracesselector.htm...Some people say it looks like your teeth are dirty and you have spinach stuck in them. In my opinion, i love thsoe colors!
Answer:
i think it looks good,that site is awesome!
also try hot pink and lime green, i saw lots of girls at my school do that.If you are allowed do you have a pic of yourself with your new sidebangs? or the pic you showed to your hair dresser? if not don't worry about.
no, it doesn't
yaaas
Do you like the Ducks. ?
Ick no...I had braces and never understood the appeal of colored braces. It sucks having them, why would you want to show them off? I just stuck with plain old silver, or better yet clear.
no. ple will be thinkin you dont brush your teeth or you really like spinich
it's different i guess.
i wouldnt put yellow on braces, cause yeah it would look like you have food in your teeth, and from far away it would look like it, i think you should get colors lke pink red or blue. so people know its braces not food caught in. =)
It looks cute.
NASTY!!
Do what you want, I think it looks like a true deep yellow, not dirty teeth. I switch up black, blue, and red. I also have a friend who put yellow, orange, and red in at the same time and they looked fine!
I LIKE THOSE COLORS BUT THEY MIGHT CAUSE MORE ATTION TO YOUR BRACES...IT IS UP TO YOU! LIKE I SAID I LIKE THOSE COLORS!
I don't really like it, but if you do get it!
try blue or dark pink that was my favorite one
Thats what I thought too.. until the yellow faded and the lime turned yellow 3 weeks later. Save yourself the embarrassment. If you really like the colors, get a t-shirt or something but don't put them on your teeth. I swore that if i could if would save others from my same embarassment, so thats why i'm answering this. Try teal and light(not lime, it turns yellow) green they look good togeather :-)
If you're young yeah why not, but for professional people like me, nope. I have mine all metallic gray!
omg that is so so so cute don't listen to those peeples that is cute i love those colors too!i think BLACK AND WHITE will be alittle better so it will mach with what you ware
do you mean using both colors?I say notlime is nice ,, but only lime
I would say if you like it go for it, but this is one of those times I just cant even say that, I would never ever advice that. later in the months when your retainer is on the dresser while your sleeping, it drys out, and gets a yellowish color of its own. and that wont look pretty to that color you picked. you cant play that off. that will look sad. get rid of the idea now. there are many other pretty bright summery colors to choose from. I would pick something to where all year around. and since you like lime, maybe you can pick a Tricia(blue) to go with yellow
Believe what some people would say. Your teeth will look as though you haven't brushed them in days. Leave the colors out.
looks awesome!
If you like those colors and want to put them on your braces then go ahead.whose stopping you? And if you find out after that you don't really like those colors on your braces then just think...just 1 more month until you change them. :)
I had put neon pink 1 month...the worst color! Which I found out in the car! Man I couldn't wait to change those! lol
You only get to wear braces once (that sux if you have to wear them twice...lol) Flaunt them!
Agnesa no no no no ive had braces for two years and they will make yooh look retarded just keep them clear or white =]]
Do you think its OK to get a tooth pulled and not put in a replacement?
I have eaten on only one side of my mouth for at least a year. The dentist wants to repair it (root canal), but I want it pulled so I will never have to worry about it again. It is the second tooth from the back, so you can't see it.
Do you think there is a particular age you should be to have a tooth removed permanently?
Answer:
Definately get it fixed. If you get it pulled it will make the back tooth move. Also if there is a tooth that bites and touches it it will either drop down (if on top of mouth) or it will raise up (if on bottom). Also wouldn't it be nice to be able to use both sides of your mouth? Root canals really aren't a very big deal. Generally not painful at all. No, there is no age to get a tooth removed permanently. If all of your teeth are in bad shape...then you should get them removed and get dentures. But if it is just one or just a few you should get those fixed. Hope this helps!
i'm 54, have one tooth left...
Once you start pulling them they start getting looser; i gave up my first at 20.
I had five of my adult teeth pulled when i was 12 years old and my teeth have adjusted fine.
I would just have it pulled, you won't miss it for chewing, and don't need it cosmetically: so I wouldn't pay big bucks and go through the pain of a root canal. Maybe if you were just a young kid. Hope this helps!
Get the root canal done. When you have a tooth pulled and don't get an implant or a bridge to take the place it is detrimental to your oral health. Your jaw bone will be absorbed and the tooth behind it will begin to shift, possibly causing a misalignment of your teeth. If the tooth is on the botom and you have it pulled, the tooth directly above it will start to grow down to fill in the gap and it will not be pretty. Get the root canal it is a simple and safe procedure and they will put a cap on the tooth and you likely won't have a further problem down the road.
The root canal will save the tooth. When you remove any tooth, the rest of your teeth can move and cause other problems. I would have the root canal and the "problem" would be gone...not the tooth. Keep as many of your teeth as possible at this point. Having teeth shapes your face...loss of teeth reshapes you face in ways you might not like down the road.
Save the tooth. Even though it seems expansive now it will cost more to extract in long run. As you extract it the gums surrounding it will start to reside and the teeth on both sides will start going in towards one another then those will need pulled and so on. this process can be faster or slower and will differ on each individual however fast or slow, the process will occur. save the tooth now and you wont have to worry about the problems it brings later.
You need to replace the teeth you lose with teeth that can take their own load... else you start to lose teeth
Do you still have your real teeth?
If not, at what age did you get dentures and why?
Answer:
I have had two teeth pulled, and a root canal on one of my front teeth. My grandmother started to lose her teeth when she was 16; she lived in the Virgin Islands...no flouridated water and lack of proper oral hygiene led to brittle teeth. She got her dentures started when she was 23.It was one of the things that led me to my current profession...
yup but only being 21 i should! though that being said I have never had even a filling
yep
stil got all 8 front uns.
I hit a telephone pole when I was 17, my face hit the steering wheel, and I've worn falsies ever since. Many, many years ago.
yes but need braces
yup. still got them real teeth. had to get several pulled because i'm getting braces on wednesday.
Yes I have 14 top and 14 bottom real teeth, thank God
Real - ones own- teeth are better than dental manufactured.
Yet, having stated that, my teeth consist of three large amalgam both bottom and 3 large on the top. Two small amalgam top front. One very tiny tooth coloured filling bottom front.
And two top front dental crowns. This was painful, involved root canal and cuttting the gum /bone/jaw. ( this was done ages ago, maybe dental practices are better now).
And at present (if any one has noted my posted questions) I have a missing amalgam filling and part of the tooth has broken off and this is not good, from my own experience and going by several ByeDr.com.
It is good that these days people are not only encouraged to take care of their teeth and how to (not vanity). That teeth are considered not only valuable for practical activity like eating and help with ones appearance. But maybe, most importantly in relation with health. In some instances good teeth in a persons mouth are more than likely to have better health.
Yet no matter what is left, it is not to late to take care of ones teeth. Hope this helps.
Do you rinse with water after rinsing your mouth with Listerine or Crest pro Health Oral moutgh wash?
Do you rinse with water after rinsing your mouth with Listerine or Crest Pro Health Oral mouth wash?
Answer:
Sometimes... when the listerine is too strong and I want the "sting" to stop.
no i just gurgle and spit into the bowl and leave
Normally, after using a mouthwash like Listerine or Crest pro Health you just expectorate (spit) and let the rinse sit on your teeth for optimal benefit. This is done when you're have a problem like gingivitis or bad breath, but if not then you can rinse after with water only know your not getting the "optimal" result. Good luck.
Do you really need to take antibiotics when you go to the dentist if you have mitrovalve prolapse?
Answer:
You actually don't have to unless you previously had bacterial endocarditis. Mitrovalve prolapse alone no longer requires antibiotic prophylaxis. The guidelines changed recently so some dentists may not be aware of the new changes. MVP did often require antibiotic prophylaxis under the old guidelines. Your dentist may still want you to take them, but it's not required.
You should!
Yes; tremendous risk from infection.
very definitely, the circulation can carry bacteria from your mouth to the heart, if you have a valve problem, the circulation isn't effective there and will not just flush the blood thru, so bacteria can settle and cause an infection in the heart, quite often a fatal situation.
That appears to be the theory. And it is a cheap price to pay (4 500mgs of Amoxocillin) to be sure you do not get an infection in your heart!!! I have a total hip replacement, (I'm young, but a horse fell on me when I was 12) and no way would I go without medication. it is really no big deal. and I sure don't want something to happen that puts me in the hosp.
Yes you have to if the dentist is planning on cutting you or planning an invasive kind of procedure. Your risk of infection is very high with anything like that. The difference is that because of the prolapse the infection can have a kind of effect on your heart that will lay you up for months and have lasting effects if it doesn't kill you.
i have the same thing i go to the dentist all the time it never hurt me
No, you don't have to have it but you should go ahead and take it. The question you need to ask yourself is would you rather risk the chance of ending up in the hospital w/ a huge heart problems that can cause death or permanent damage to your heart, or would you rather just take a few pills and be covered?
Do you open your mouth when you clean your ears with a Q tip?
Answer:
I had to go try it, and yes, I do.
No, of course I don't! I bet you do, though.
I tried it answer is YES
Nope
No.
Do you need Straight teeth to use Crest White Strips?
Crest White Strips or Aquafresh Trays
Answer:
No, but it may be harder to get the strip to stay on your teeth and to fit on your teeth. Plus there is gel in the strip that is pretty gross feeling and it could get in your mouth instead of on you teeth. prob. not so fun. BUT there is a toothpaste that really really really works call Pearl Drops you can buy it at walmart which is where i bought it. and your teeth will be super white and noticed as long as you use it regularly!
You don't need straight teeth.
Just make sure that you press the strip into all the little spaces between your teeth and along your gumline.
Do you need headgear or neckgear if some teeth are going in and some are going out?
Answer:
you may need braces, and sometimes after you get braces you will need a retainer which is used to keep your teeth from becoming crooked again, often head gear is for an overbite which has more to do with your alignment of teeth as a whole rather than each individual's tooth alignment, you can choose not to have head gear its all up to you, but i suggest going to see an orthodontist, who can advise you more on the types of equipment you will need
Why don't u ask a dentist or orthodontist, instead of random people!
what??
I think everyone goes through a stage in their braces where they require you to wear headgear that way the teeth are the staying in place.
I don't really understand what your asking, but headgear and neckgear is only really for people with overbites or crossbites.
A few different reasons. One fo them is because some of your teeth are in the right place but others aren't and they want to keep the ones that are in the right place in the same spot so they use a headgear.No,they are not only for people with overbites and crossbites by the way.And no,not everyone with braces has to get them. It depends on your teeth.
WHY? / your teeth /are being pulled/ and /your/ getting dentures/ headgear / and neck wear/ are /not involved /in dentistry
i had 2 teeth pulled before i got braces years ago and the point of them was to help move a tooth that was growing out of place and it sort of helped with my over bite if your getting braces beware they suck and hurt for the first week and they hurt after they change your wiring and rubber band things and the retainer u wear after they come off hurts when u put it in if u dont wear it all day
headgear? uhmm no u dont.
u only need braces.
im pretty sure they dont use headgear anymore.
Ask your orthodontist about "Damon Self Ligating Braces" and "FREDS". This is the technology I waited for 'cause I didn't want rubber band braces or head gear...and it's not more expensive than regular braces.FREDS are the modern version of head gear...they're ugly springs inside your mouth to correct an overbite...but it totally beats headgear.I don't know how serious your situation is so just ask an orthodontist for real answers 'cause you could need surgery or just a retainer...I'm not a doctor lol.
Do you need experience to be a dental assistant?
Answer:
It depends on state laws, for certification anyway. In Iowa, where I work, an assistant can work with no experience, but within 6 months of hire they need to pass state or national exams to continue. If you're interested in assisting, call a local community college or vocational school.
in NY most dental office want you to have a dental assistant certification which requires some experience.
Some ads say experience, some ads say will train. It all depends on the office running the ad.
I've been a dental assistant for 18 years--I went to school for medical assisting and decided after graduation that I really didn't want to take peoples blood. I decided pulling out peoples teeth would be better.
That is a joke--I hate extractions.
In a word, yes. Specifically, what do you want to know? Maybe I can help...
ASHLEY,
A LOT DEPENDS ON THE DENTIST YOU WORK FOR.
SOME REQUIRE CERTIFICATION BEFORE THEY HIRE YOU. OTHERS, ARE WILLING TO TAKE THE TIME OUT AND TRAIN YOU.
THE CERTIFIED ONES USUALLY A BETTER PAID BECAUSE OF THEIR PAST SKILLS.
LEGALLY, THE LAW DOES NOT REQUIRE AN ASSISTANT TO BE CERTIFED.
A PRUDENT DENTIST WILL STILL NEED TO TRAIN A CERTIFIED ASSISTANT TO THEIR MANNER OF PATIENT TREATMENT AND OFFICE POLICIES.
Hi
Most good dental practices require experience or schooling for dental assisting. U will find the odd one who "will train", however the pay will be low and u will only learn what that dentist is willing to teach u. 99% of offices want you to be certified to take x-rays, and for that an exam has to be written and u need lots of practical experience. Its really worth it to take a course, bite the bullet and pay the price. Its a good field and lots of assistants go on to dental hygiene, where the pay is fabulous.
Good luck
Do you know why after they a doctor does a route canal and puts a temporary fill in, there might be swelling?
i have a bit of swelling and pain of my cheeck eventhough 3 days passed.
Answer:
This happened to me, as well. When my dentist gave me a shot to numb my tooth, he ended up giving it to me in my cheek muscle. It was pretty painful and took about a week for the swelling/pain to go away. Also, other explanations could be the length that you had your mouth open for the procedure and your jaw could just be sore from the effort.
well , When thoroughly cleaned the root canals are filled with a rubber like compound called gutta percha. A cement is also used to help seal the canals to prevent bacteria from reentering. In many cases, the opening in the crown of the tooth is sealed with a temporary filling. Either upon request from your dentist or when we it's appropriate, the access opening in the crown is filled with a build up restoration .
Do you have to brush your teeth when using crest white strips classics?
the box says not to brush your teeth...somebody explain this to meif i do need to...when is the right time to brush
Answer:
You CAN brush your teeth before, but you should not brush for at least 30 minutes after, as the H2O2 has very slightly demineralized the surface enamel. This is NOT a problem as your own saliva will replace these minerals in a half hour and therefore strengthen the teeth again. If you do brush you will brush away microns of tooth enamel which over time can damage your teeth. So it is also advisable to limit how long and how frequently you use the bleaching strips
brush before but not after you put the strip on you DO need to brush your teeth or your breath will be something FIERCE
don't brush your teeth while they are on and a few minutes after u have rinsed ur mouth.but u have to brush ur teeth since the strips don't protect against plaque,bad breath,cavities,gingivitis. i know because i have used them.
If it says dont brush teeth it means for a little while afterwards dont brush. Use it after brushing not before.
Yes you ALWAYS Have to brush your teeth. The only way to remove plaque which is loose debris on teeth that can harden is to brush with a toothbrush to pull it off your teeth.
you need to brush at least at night before sleep
it is recommend to brush after each meal
at night will do most of the job
yes brush before you stripnever skip teeth brushing
It says not to brush your teeth before you put them on. I think they stay on better if your teeth are not smooth. So I would wait and brush your teeth about 30 minutes or so after you take the strips off. I love crest white strips, they have always worked for me. :)
Well your not supposed to because the crest does it for you.
nope the box is right
Do you have a right to your dental x-rays?
I went to a dentist last year.I had a plan "A" %26 a plan "B".for fixing my teeth.I had asked him to please submit both plans seperately for pre-estimate to my insurance company. both plans were put together and extractions weren't listed .i called after waiting awhile.to asked if they would seperate %26 re-submit the plans to my insurance company.i really needed to what debt i would owe.( i had to have carpal tunnel surgery on my right hand in '06) i wanted to be sure i could pay my part for both teeth and hand. .well, i waited %26 waited.i finally called my insurance company a month later.and they said they never re-submitted the plans.So,as "07 i had to find a new dentist %26 start all over again.but the first dentist i pay my $50 deductible and about $200.00 for one extraction. i felt i had no choice but to extract the really bad tooth.and go on with the hand surgery. I could wait for the pre-estimates any longer.Do i know have a right to ask for my x-rays,they don't need them?
Answer:
Michael is pretty much on the money with one exception. The new dental office CAN NOT request copies for you legally. That is part of the HIPAA law. Some offices will do it for you but most will ask you to either call or might even have a pre-printed fax sheet to send that you would have to sign. Thats how i do it.
As far as charging for copying of xrays, the law clearly states that a reasonable fee may be charged to duplicate. The law also clearly states that outstanding balances DO NOT need to be paid off prior to copying. A lot of offices will hold balances over your head. Get your films and get another opinion.
Under the HIPPA act, you have the right to access all of your medical information.
Yes, you have a right to a copy of your records, including xrays for a "reasonable" charge. You can also ask your next office to call and request them prior to your appointment. Good luck!
yes you do have the right to know..you are the patient and it is important to have them...if you are switching dentists you can ask for copies of your x rays as well..patients come to the office all the time and ask for copies of their x rays..copies are free andyou can just call them up and request them
Michael's answer CAN be correct. We request x-rays and records for patients after they have signed a records release form. The form must be signed, though. We can't simply ask for records from another office.
Do you have a crossbite, overbite, or underbite?
Just being curious. I have a crossbite with underbite tendencies, you could say. My lower front teeth stick out in front of my top teeth because of my jaw, but my other teeth are normal. If my parents had been nice, I would've gotten braces as a kid, but now instead I suffer with it and will probably have to get braces or have surgery because it's rather complex.So anyway, I would just like to know if you have any dental weirdness! Thanks for sharing!
Answer:
My top front teeth stick out over my lower front teeth when my jaw is relaxed, which I'm told is normal, and most of my other teeth are normal too, but my cheeks have an impression tendancy, which is further accentuated when I accidentally chew them. For this reason at a very early age I developed the habit on pressing my teeth together to stop my cheek from entering between them, and as a result I now have stressjaw syndrome. Lucky me.
overbite. i have to have braces to. i hate, hate, hate my teeth! lol
look if you have the money, get it done. it maybe painful but you will get a result that you like. i have to get my teeth done too. i will be in more hell than you are.
i have a slight overbite,
I had a slight overbite, but I got it and the rest of my teeth corrected over a few years on the NHS for free =) I also have hypodontia - missing 6 teeth!
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/hypodontia...
I have an open bite. I only hit on my back 4 teeth and it's not an overbite because it doesn't overlap like an overbite...The only way to fix it is to have surgery on my jaw. So I will just deal with it..I've dealt with it for over 20 years I might as will just stick with it...
I have what is called an open bite. My right sides doesn't close always when my left side does.
Do you guys think blue and gray braces will look nice?
Do you get spacers before you get braces?
I'm Just wondering cause Im getting braces but I dont know they didnt tell me much about it cause I was aproved for them so can you tell me if you get them first?
Answer:
u do get spacers first cause they are wat make room forthe metal bands that they put in the back to hold ur wire. most people have them for around a week***spacers dont hurt watsoever***pink and light blue are cute colors***NEVER get white or clear bands cause white looks like food is stuck in ur braces and clear like it u eat ketchup or a lollipop or somethin, they stain***they put the bands, and then every time u go back u get to choose new colorsk
i have gotton em on over 6 times (dont ask!)it doesnt hurt dont worry-it is just a long process and it tastes kinda badthey give u a band on ur molars fiist, to see ur size and stufffirst theu put this positioner thing is ur mouth, it makes your mouth stretch a lkot so they can see ur teeth, it will bother u for a minute or 2 but u will get used to it, u keep that thing on the WHOLE timethen there are these things that look like shots and stuff, i got really freaked out when i first saw them but actually, they dont go in ur mouth! this is the cement that they put on ur braces then they stick the braces on ur teeth
**the cement kinda tastes bad!then they will put the rubber bands on ur braces with things that look like sisscors (they dont hurt) after that they put the wire-this is the most anoying part cause after they slip it in ur mouth, they have to cut it to make it fit rightthen that is it!Ur done
but after u do it, ask ur doctor for dental wax, and rubber cover upwhen u get home use ACT mouthwash and for the first hour, ur teeth may be a little numb so drink mainly fluids-clear fluidsthen for the first day or 2 ur teeth may be a little sensitive so stick with eating soup, pasta, and soft foods-avoid strawsevery night use Peroxyl mouthwash for like a week to keep ur gums storng from cuts and use dental wax and rubber coverups so u wont get blisters, they hurt a little but arent that bad. avoid sleeping on ur side, try to keep ur head straight up for a couple of daysevery morning and every night use the Peroxyl mouthwash again for 2 weeks then after that just use ACT mouthwash to keep ur teeth and gum s healthy. get some Super floss, made for braces-i sugest elictrical toothbrushes they keep ur mouth cleanerdont worry-trust me- i have had my braces on for almost 4 years, i am gettin em off on July 3-my friend says it acutally hurts more to get em off so yea
Generally, yes. Don't worry though, they're just little rubber bands they stick between a few back teeth.
Yes, they ususally put in spacers before they put on your braces. They did that to me when I had braces.
i didn't but a lot of other people did. they're not that bad, you can't even really tell that they are there. having braces is bad enough.
Yeah, I had to have two of them on my back teeth. They kind of started to hurt after a while and it was hard to eat dinner that night. Good luck with it lol.
Yes you get spacers before you braces. You have them in for about a week, they are really painful!!
Not sure if spacers are still generally used but, when I first got braces when I was younger, they were used on the teeth that needed rings, such as the back teeth that are used for tightening the overall fit of the braces. Usually, I think, it's only when your teeth are tight together that they are needed.
Spacers arn't that bad and they generally come before braces. They prepare your teeth and help them get spaced properly. Just be happy you don't (hopefully) need a pallet expander - now that is true pain!
Do you get a crown when you get a root canal done or are they 2 seperate procedures?
Answer:
The three procedures are all billed separately.. Root Canal Therapy, Post + Core buildup, and Crown.Those are the 3 standard procedures for treating a restorable tooth with an infected / necrotic nerve from start to finish.Hope this helps.
Usually 2 separate procedures. They do the root canal then place a temporary on top. You usually come back and have the permanent crown applied.
Usually done in 2 visits
"thddspc" is quite correct but there are more than 3 separate procedures. This involves the RCT (root canal therapy), placement of the post and the shaping and buildup of the remaining tooth, then impressions are taken for the making of the crown and a temporary crown is applied. In 2-3 weeks, you return for the placement of the permanent crown but this is included.
Do you floss?
If so how many times a day? If you don't..why not?
Answer:
I learned a catchy phrase when I was in dental hygiene school and I like to tell it to my patients. Only floss the teeth you would like to keep. Flossing is just as important as brushing your teeth. Plaque also forms in between your teeth. There is a tiny pocket that surrounds each tooth, all the way around it. When you brush correctly and you are angling the bristles, that removes the bacteria from that area of your tooth. But flossing removes the bacteria that is hiding in that pocket between your teeth. You should floss once a day, preferrably before brushing your teeth. Also, although children that are younger than 8 can not manipulate their fingers correctly they should also be attempting to floss daily, and parents can follow them/ assist them at their attempts. Any type of bleeding from flossing/ brushing is indicative of inflammation. Healthy tissue does not bleed. Hope this information helps!Carrie, R.D.H
dont, im too lazy.but i have a friend whos OCD about it. ha
I don't enjoy flossing so I only floss once a day.
I floss once a day, or more than once if I got stuff stuck visibly in my teeth.
no. too lazy. :P
once every other day. it makes my gums tougher so they don't bleed when brushing. it makes my breath better too.
i do, everything after i eat something, i floss like 10 times a day
i floss 2 to 3 times a day. My mom is a dental assistant, and she reinforced flossing in my brain when i was a kid.
YES,AFTER A MEAL
i dn't floss i am way to lazy too
yes I floss and you should too. Not flossing can cause gingivitis and after that peridontal disease which is when you can lose your teeth. It's not worth losing your teeth not to spend 1 minute a day or less flossing.
Yes twice a day
I floss my butt at least twice a day with thongs.
(not really)
Yes, I floss as many times as I feel I need to. Pretty often.
Yes. At least twice a day. And, as instructed by my dentist, I tie a knot in the floss to do a better job between the teeth. Happy Smiles :)
Not as much as I should...it hurts
onstly idont floss lol cause i had braces andi always had to floos my teeth which made it 50 times harder and i usually go to bed around 1:30 to 2am lol cause iam on msn talkin to my bf so iam just to tired to floss but i do brush twice aday
i dont always do it(lazy) but normally at least 3 times a week
My dentist told me that if you are a child (17 and under) the minimum of flossing is 2 or 3 times a week. When you are a adult though you should floss daily (every 24 hours). I floss every 24 hours even though I am 12 just because I like the feeling of a clean mouth.
i used to every day... but then i got braces. i don't floss very much at all now.
Yes. Twice a day.
I do floss, but I have to admit, not everyday. I just get lazy I guess, no other reason. But I also have to admit, I love my teeth!
I flossed every once in a while BUT now that I see what my father is going through, I WILL DO IT EVERY DAY :)
My dad is 76 and in the process of having his teeth PULLED out because of decay and gum disease. Can you imagine having the majority of your teeth pulled out bc you didnt take time when you were younger. EVERYBODY FLOSS. I hate seeing my dad in pain. FOR 3 MONTHS ALL HE CAN EAT IS SOUP. THE HOLES IN HIS GUMS GET FOOD IN IT AND CREATE INFECTIONS.ITS A MESS. Next week they start the work for partials--upper and lower. but he still will have 6 teeth left until they rot :(
